You are of age to know particular names in the Bible. You are of age to remember Saul, David, and Jonathan. But your Sunday school Teacher could have forgotten a character named Meshibothes.
I must add forgetting is a polite word. Brutally put,your Sunday school Teacher simply didn’t bring up that story in 2Samuel because the same story presents with a weakness of reporting and a bias in writing.
See, before he became king of Israel,David cooked up a friendship with king Saul’s son Jonathan. The story goes that they were bossom friends. They blossomed with a bromance only found in fairy tales.
Upon becoming King after Saul,David was overcome by the spirit of remembrance leading him to ask,.” Is there anyone in the lineage of Saul,that I can show favor because of my friendship with Jonathan?”
Ofcourcorse there was! David’s handlers quickly did a search and find. True to their search,they reported back to David,that there was a dude called Meshibothe- Jonathan’s son! Unfortunately before David could call for champagne,his handlers added a character dossier, ” he is lame in both legs!”
Am sure the king didn’t care how Meshibothe looked like,how he smelt like,how he talked like,how he laughed like! The king’s handlers did. To which they crafted a file.
My concern fellow man, is to let you know that sometimes the king’s handlers can potentially amputate you because of what you did,what you said and when you said it,even when the king hasn’t suggested a character scan on your life.
What are those things that you have eavesdropped about yourself? Is yesterday’s report holding you back? You could be lame in both feet but the king requires that you turn up at his palace! The king wants to show you favor based on your lieanage! Drop everything. The king is calling and he is not bothered about that dossier.
It’s Mental health month. It matters that you harken to the king’s call.
