Mental Health and sex: is sex overrated?
By Moses Bulamu

According to the Bible, the official record puts Solomon at 700 Wives and 300 concubines! Which is a thousand readily available women for the dude! At a snap of a finger. Phew!

King David on his part had 8 known wives and MANY concubines. Now,the word many could mean anything. The word many might also cast doubt to the figure 8. But what can a king do? Why should I even blame the king? It’s his kingdom and his galavanting is up to him!

The Bible records that King David, wandered off a roof top at midday and that he saw a woman bathing. She wasn’t using your modern showers to bath. She was probably using a metallic basin or bucket. Totally nude and loving herself. It’s also recorded that he desired to have sex with the same woman. And he did. Remember ,it was wartime and all the men had abstained from sex and king David could have been starving sexually. That said,i wonder what it was with this bathing girl that synched the groin chemistry in King David yet he had so many girls he called wives.Uriah’s wife – Bathsheba goes onto David’s chopping board and the rest are consequences.

I bet you have read stories where men have over 20 wives! And these men MUST sexually satisfy their appetites as a way of medicating mental health issues!

Let’s do the Math. It would require Solomon alot of time, infact three years away from his royal duties to get jiggy with it,with all his wives at least once a year. Did Solomon have children? Ofcourcorse he did! Were all the children his or he got some ‘ naughty ‘ boys that helped out?- I don’t know. And as a matter of fact I don’t give a hoot!

It’s a fact that sometimes men ‘ medicate’ a mental issue with sex. That’s why we hear of rape in marriage. Or that man who overpowers his wife when she is having her menstrual cycle just so he satisfies himself!A lil bit of Monica,a lil bit of Janey a lil bit of Mega. But to what advantage?

Men have been sold herbs and concoctions in the name of ” man power”. The sellers usually promise the buyers a fantasy of an amazing erection and in effect Quantity sex. Question is,to whose advantage? Get me right,am not blaming anyone. Am not getting out a ‘ holier than thou’ wand and wave it. Nope. Am asking does a lil sex here,a lil sex there heal your mental health?

Is sex overated? Does sex offer mental health healing? Does sex offer validation? Do men care for the quality or quantity of sex? Does sex help men release negative emotions and therefore find a certain peace of mind? These questions factor in that hen pecked man btw. That whipped dude who has kept the pain within.

How are you ‘medicating’ that Mental Health issue that has taken your peace? As I post this article ofcourcorse there are men having some sex right now, there are men who are planning to have some of it in the day and there are some that haven’t had some of it in a long time and are desiring to and figuring out how to! Does sex offer healing?

I ask me these questions not to blame anyone. I,ask so you and I can think about. Can think through it and if you are a man of faith, can pray on it.

June is Mental Health awareness for Men! Let’s make it count!
