Have you been to the car washing bay? Okay, not that you went there for a shower, even if heaven knows you need one!
To the washing bay with your dirty car. That’s what I mean.

The young people at the bay give your car a thorough clean. They vanish it. Sometimes they wax it. They overdo it with car polish and all,as you and your buddies are sat out probably eating roasted groundnuts, cassava or maize ( for boys). Separately ,the girls will choose the salon not far from the washing bay. These salons have easy- to- remember names like “Hajjatiz Salon”, “Mama Tinaz,” or “Jajja original”

These your habits. Me? just telling the truth.

Your car tyres are scrubbed and polished. They look new and you can smell the rubber off them! Done with the bay,as you drive home, you navigate into a pot hole. The Car tyres get back to where they belong – Dirty. Stinky. Ugly. Yet, without the tyres, your amazing car won’t move.

That’s how it is to love a rebellious young person. As a father, you continually guide them, talk to them, praise them, devote them- yet their character could end up dirty, stinky and ugly.

So, do you give up on your son? No, you don’t! You clean him up. He needs you to grow up. True, like the tyres on our car, his walk could be dangerous and shabby. Yet, for the father, this offers a learning to steer well. To steer with love.
