Yesterday, I felt compelled to do what touches my heart – community involvement. While on the road, I stopped to admire a nearby wetland. Its beauty and serenity struck me. The wetland reminded me of my mother and her signature tea. My mama didn’t just enjoy tea; she loved it passionately. She’d let the tea simmer with cinnamon, ginger, milk, and tea leaves, creating a fragrant blend that needed to be savored before tasting. She’d delicately sieve the tea and serve it with ceremony and a warm smile.

This experience made me reflect on our relationship with nature. We’re grappling with climate change, and it’s clear we’ve contributed to the problem. We’ve cut down trees and reclaimed flora in the name of development, often disregarding the importance of wetlands. These ecosystems allow water to flow while filtering impurities, provide habitats for plants and animals, and regulate water quality and storage.

Wetlands aren’t a nuisance; they’re a valuable asset. I’m curious, how are you contributing to climate action at a personal level? Are you driving change or inadvertently contributing to climate breakdown?
